What can i expect at the office of mr. moto?

We offer two tasting menu experiences each evening at 6:00pm and 8:30pm. The immersive tasting experience features a carefully curated seasonal menu inspired by Mr. Moto’s voyages and the history of sushi. Mr. Moto’s most meaningful memory is of his voyage to Japan in the year 1853, and is required for entry to the restaurant. The keypad can be located within the mailbox.

Do you offer beverage pairings?

We offer two beverage pairings of fine wine and sake curated to complement the seasonal tasting menu — The Classic Pairing at $75 per guest and The Commodore’s Pairing at $115 per guest.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Our menu primarily features raw fish and rice. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate guests with seafood allergies, aversions to raw fish, vegetarian, or vegan diets. We are able to accommodate kosher-style diets and gluten allergies; however, we require notice at least two business days prior to guarantee accommodations. Please contact us here if you require kosher-style and gluten-free accommodations.

Can I bring my own beverages?

You are welcome to provide your own beverages. Corkage is $100 per bottle with a limit of 2 bottles. Please contact us prior to bringing your own beverages, as we are unable to accept any wine or sake that is offered on our beverage menu.

Do you have a dress code?

While we do not have a specific dress code, many of our guests wear smart casual attire.

Can i wear cologne or perfume? 

Fragrance and aromas are key elements of Japanese cuisine and an integral part of our experience. To ensure that guests can fully enjoy the experience, we kindly ask that you limit the usage of fragrances, such as perfume or cologne, when you dine with us.

What is the difference between the Counter seating and the gallery seating?

We offer two seating experiences. Guests who book The Counter will be seated at our sushi bar counter and will be served our 21-course tasting menu. Guests who book The Gallery will be seated in Mr. Moto’s museum gallery, which features antique artifacts collected by Mr. Moto during his travels. Gallery guests will be served the same tasting menu.

I’m running late, can you still accommodate me?

Due to the nature of our tasting menu, we ask guests to arrive promptly as we serve guests simultaneously in a communal experience. For late arrivals, we may not be able to guarantee you the full experience.

Something has come up and I need to change my reservation. How can I do so? 

You may make changes or cancel your reservation up to 72 hours in advance of your seating. Cancellations will result in the loss of your deposit. If you have any last minute changes, contact us directly at 646-360-4065.

When do you release reservations? 

We release reservations on the 1st of every month at 10am for the following month on Tock, our reservation platform. You can find our reservations page here.

Do you offer private events or catering?

We offer private events for up to 14 guests between seating at The Counter and The Gallery. For private events inquiries or restaurant buyouts, contact us directly here. Our sister restaurant, Tomokase, provides at-home omakase experiences and catering services — please visit them here.
